Workplace Violence Prevention

The HSC Workplace Violence Prevention and Response program is designed to help public and private sector organizations address the growing threat of violence in their workplace. In addition to preventing physical violence, effective workplace violence programs may prevent pilferage, intellectual property theft and IT breaches from disgruntled employees. Designed to support all levels of your organization, this program focuses on the execution of plans, training, and exercises to reduce organizational risk and manage workplace violence. Areas include recognition of behaviors of concern, reporting, intervention and prevention. Active Threat Preparedness

HSC specializes in developing capabilities for Active Shooter / Active Threat planning, prevention, immediate protective actions, response coordination, and crisis communication. While Active Threat incidents can be a subset of workplace violence, these events are also happening where we and our families spend leisure time. In addition to providing training for your staff on immediate notification, personal protective actions, coordination with responders, and recovery, we offer video training for employees’ families to protect themselves where ever violence may erupt. Customized Training Programs

HSC partners with the Center for Personal Protection and Safety (CPPS) to develop and deliver a tailored, customized training program for preparedness and compliance. You can utilize existing high-quality videos, or we can incorporate video of your facilities and leadership to maximize the impact of the video training. The training can be delivered in shift change briefings, or as routine refresher training. We can develop training programs to be implemented by supervisors, augmented with the video training, which are cost effective and high impact. Studies indicate that trained individuals recognize emergencies, recall appropriate actions and commit to act, creating a survival mindset. Providing appropriate training is one part of a risk management program to lower organizational liability.

Exercises and Plan Evaluation

HSC staff has decades of experience developing exercises to evaluate organizational plans and capabilities. We helped create the Federal government’s exercise guidance and have designed and executed hundreds of exercises to address a wide range of hazards and incidents. Our expert facilitators guide discussion to meet the exercise objectives and provide a comprehensive after-action report to document successes and any areas requiring improvement.
